I have some rust issues.

For the sills I was planning on just cutting rust out and welding in some plate as replacement.

The floor pan I was thinking of cutting out and welding in plate. It was suggested to me just to fibreglass over the top? What do you guys reckon.

Also, the wheel arches are in need of attention. Again, fibre glass or welding?

Any other suggestions (i.e. preventative painting etc) on how to deal with this problem would be welcome.

New tub mate, by the time you cut all that out you will only have a chassis left.

And if that isn't an option? Lack of tools, space, and know how you see.

The tub is held on by f*#k all, you wouldn't pay some one to cut that out, it would cost a friggen fortune.

Or you could just tar over it.. 8O

dont bother fibreglassing it mate, the rust will just come back. Cutting and welding is defently the way to go. Depends if you have access to a welder and grinder though, plus it will be a good couple of w/e's to get it right. As said above a new tub would be ideal and they arent to hard to change.

Mate that is not so bad, plenty of people fix worse, pull off the side trims and do away with them completely, go buy a $30 Super Cheap Auto grinder, some cutting discs, grinding disks and flapper discs and just get stuck into it. Once it is all cut out then have a go at plating it up, if you don't have a welder rust convert it, paint it with a tar compound like under body deadner and pop rivet sheet metal over it then bog or tar it up depending on where it is. You can get a book from Super Cheap that shows basic, home body repair techniques.

With the bottom of the tailgate opening just grind all that away and weld or rivet a flat piece along there to support the rubber seal.

(I feel like I am on a Super Cheap add)

I know how to weld and grind etc, I jus haven't taken the body off before, or anything close to that. But fair enough if its simple, I'll have a look into it. Cheers for the advice but
