Hi All,
Sogone, had a better look over the weekend and found 2 better rims that I had previously used as bases for 2 wheel jack stands. Will cut them off, there may be a little divot to be repaired where the welds are but no where near as rusty!
Mrlj2u, yes $20,00 to your Victorian address and $15.00 to your work address as it is in the same state.

Hi All, For something different I am going to talk about driveshaft flanges and universals in LJs and Sierras. Attachment: IMGP5423.JPG My experience only goes back to 1974 LJ50s that have 20mm diameter stag type unis (see photo top left). LJ80s used the same flanges and uni baseplates. Then came the Stockman upgrade which used the same flanges and 25mm circlip type uni baseplates. When the first Sierra came out, still with solid driveshafts, the Stockman uni baseplate was still used, but the flanges that they bolted to changed. The flanges on the transfer were used on this model and became obsolete when the driveshafts were upgraded to tubular. At the same time, the transfer used the flange at bottom left of photo which had a bigger spline, also a switch was added to indicate when 4wd was selected (this is the 1.0L switch type that people talk about because it still has a low ratio)! The early switch type 1.0L transfer used the same stud pattern as the Stockman (here is when the unis changed from internal circlips to external circlips) and the later switch type 1.0L transfer with tube type driveshaft had a bigger flange that would later be 1.3L narrow track type. (see middle flange) When the 1.3L Sierra narrow track came out, it used the later 1.0L flanges on the transfer (now with a higher ratio) and the same baseplates and external circlip unis as the last 1.0L model. (Note the later type unis will fit the earlier internal type baseplates) This allows you to interchange between models for ratio changes using the uni as an adapter. Alternately, you can unbolt any switch type transfer flange and bolt up any switch type flange. When the Widetrack came out, bigger transfer flanges and uni baseplates (see photo at right) were used along with 10mm bolts to replace the previous 8mm bolts. However the spline inside was still the same as the first 1.0L switch type transfer giving a few ratio options.

Secondly, Before you step down off your soapbox, could you please enlighten me as to what you think a nearly 30 year old second hand transfer is worth? In fact does anyone else have an opinion on what they think it is worth, feel free to post and let us know? Thirdly, ebay is not (hes) my website! And finally, Listing things on ebay and giving info and a link on AZ is the best way to be fair to everyone! No one is making you bid, you are welcome to and YOU do so as a matter of choice. Remember I am selling parts to anyone who wants/needs them for their project and or rig! Happy to help anyone! Regards Greg I removed the siezed speedo drive from this case today. I only saw the main shaft, front case and speedo drive. The speedo drive gear had been siezed for some time. The drive gear was scolloped from the worm gear on the main shaft spinning against the stationary drive gear. Both parts are useless. The main shaft has some of the heaviest bearing damage I have layed my eyes on. I'm sure ROAR99 can provide some pics. I have no idea what was said between seller and buyer with regards to the condition of the case. But I do know that it would be worth about $50. No more.

($170 not bad if in g,working order) !!what a fucken understatement!! the only thing useable on the case is gears and outer casings i already orderd rebuild kit to suit and have sold my original t,case before striping this one down. so too far into it to bother asking for money back off this d,head.. only point i want to make is IF U SELL SOMETHING U HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CONDITION IT IS IN,, THEN FUCKEN SAY IT!!

Hi All,
Have just got to the computer and read the posts above, don't think there was room to reply, so I am replying here below. This is the first that I have heard that there was a problem. ROAR, I think you have misunderstood the ebay listing, (has been left sit for a long time, shall I go on.....) At no time did I say the transfer was is good condition, yes I did say that it needed bearings and seals, obvious because you could feel the freeplay. During our phone conversation Rorie, I very clearly expressed that we would not know the true condition until it was apart, I can tell you what I think, but if you want to hear something else, there is not much that I can do about that. Also in our phone conversation, think about it and you will remember, I said that if anything is worn out or broken, I would happily send up the bits you need as I have spares!!!!!!!
Why do you always think the worst and jump to conclusions? Do you need to give the grief? You seemed quite reasonable when we talked on the phone, quite enjoyable to talk to. Is there someting that I am missing?????????????
Fatzook, have I got this right, you are rebuilding it for Rorie? Let us know what you need to make it good, happy to help with the parts that I have. For the record, I was trying to help Rorie and anyone else buying secondhand parts off me, feedback like this makes me wonder why I do it?

No mate. I have no further involvement with that case at this point in time. I simply extracted the siezed speedo drive so Rory could further strip the case. As for you helping him? Nar mate. At $170 for a case that was in need of a complete rebuild, and condition unkown to you, you didn't help him at all. Still, both parties agreed on the price based on information provided; information that I have no access to, so I'm not here to pass judgement on a deal I know very little about. Its nice of you to offer parts to help make this right. Given I have only seen 30% of the case and its parts, and half of those parts are un-usable, I'd say it will take a fair bit to bring it back to a usable state. It may be easier/ cheaper to give him a partial refund. But that is between you guys. As for bad feedback being discouraging....... well it can be. But you have the opportunity to make good too. Just depends how you want to look at it. Peter
