Post subject:  chromo rear axles - low range offroad
for sale i have chromo rear axles, brougth from low range in america, they are 4 weeks old and have brand new bearings worth $120. the short side is twisted 1 spline lpng is perfect.

now dad has spoken to low range sean in america about the twist and we have emails to prove, that these are still perfectly fine to use, we were told to keep running these until they or if they ever break and then send them back over and then if it's a warranty job a new set will be sent over. we were told they there has only ever been 1 axle of these broken in 5 years and it was running big tires excess 31's,
pretty sure there are other auszookers member running these same axles in there rigs.

price is $420 neg ono

why is there so much spline on the short side? There is only 30mm or so of engagement area :?

Hey Pete,
I asked the exact same question! Still got no idea, I thought may be they use same axle for NT and cut spline off. Who knows.

Seems to me the long splines have caused the twist.

Are all their off the shelf axles like that??

I gather they would be as the OP questioned them on the spline length.

Given that it looks as if the axle has only twqisted through the splined section, I would say you are right :?

low range said they are perfect and they should be good forever, they said they have heard one 1 break in 5 years i just want them gone cause i'm using lux diffs now and have no use for them cost me about $700 as they sit there only 1 month old, perfect oppurtunity to get chromo rear axles at a bargain price.

From what I have heard the Calmini ones have been designed that way to accomodate the Kam locker which used the full length of the extra spline.
