Hi, im looking for a catalitic converter for a suzuki grand vitara xl7 2.7 2001 model as low cost as possible as ive still yet to pay for the work that has so far been carried out (not that its helped any) im going to have to pay some one to fit it, and then get it back through its mot so i can go get it taxed and back on the road before i am left with no choice but to sell it.
Any help is most apreciated, i am disabled, the car is my only means of getting out of the house, i cant even look at a bus or train without having a panic attack so im left with having no choice but to buy from near me where i can send some one to pick up, or post.
Thank you

He's a Pom, in Pommy Land. The only other member over that way I can think of is Rhinoman.

What type of disability do you have?
I understand the importance of a disabled person being self reliant, However there are people out there that will help, perhaps ask a family member, neighbour, neighbours family, your local church group, disability services, salvation army or even a complete stranger. I'm sure there will be someone that wouldn't mind helping.
But to assist with your question, When I needed a cat converter asap, I got one from the newest car in the wrecking yard, had flanges welded on and replaced it. Sure It was odd having a nissan logo under a mitsubishi, but it worked. When time and funds allowed I replaced that with a new one.
In your situation I think this would be the quickest, easiest and most cost effective solution. Well it'll be much easier and quicker than having sent one from Australia.

the closest family i have are my parents 6 miles from me, there doing all they can by having my children since there schools are only a short walk from my parents, they have offered to pay for a part for me but again it comes down to cost, dad lost his job which burnt up his savings, hes started working again but mum has been made redundant, i guess that helps with the kids lol.
Its more my hubbys disability thats the problem for us, he has perthes disease in his lower spine and hip, he cant walk more than a few feet without pain, any sharp jolts cause him a lot of pain, he cant get in bus seats, there too upright for him, he cant sit like a normal person, he has to sit back like he is slouching, since the car went to the garage he has had no option but to walk so the pain killers are taking a bashing, as for my disability, im agoraphobic, germaphobic, and suffer with anxioty/panic disorder and bi-polar, the only way i can leave the house is with my dog or hubby, cant touch public transport because of the above, we lean on each other which so far has worked out fine but its all crashing down around us at the moment, without the car im stuck, starting to miss the kids like crazy too, its only been a week, i truly cant see me going another week like this, there is serious talk about selling the car as it stands and using the money to buy another, smaller, cheaper car.
Takes the mik when you cant buy a simple part out side of suzuki, they quoted me 700 for the part alone, given a link to a site by my uncle, i was quoted over 800. it bites that i paid an exhaust place 200 to fix the exhaust, they fixed it but took the cat off replacing it with a pipe instead of just getting a new cat and charging us extra, they custom parts too so you would think they could have done a custom job so the car would at least pass its mot, now its stuck at the garage that did the mot because the tax ran out.
im wondering if there aint some place that sells even recons, just some thing to help it pass so i can get it back on the road, then hubby can go back to work, out from under my feet, and make some money to do the job right, its almost like were hitting a brick wall. some one online gave us a link to a place in the states that ship to the uk, we can get the part with shipping for 150, IF we can do electronic payment... what the heck is that??? or a further 100 some thing to use a visa.... ARRRRG!!!

To remove the cat and replace it with a pipe, I would say that would be very illegal. It definitly is over here. Off the top of my head the fine from the police is about $1200 and the car would be defected so it wouldn't be allowed to drive on the road. And I'm sure the laws over in Europe are stricter than here.
I have dealt with lowrange offroad before and they're service is very quick, They have an online banking system which is trustworthy and secure. If you have a Visa or matercard all you will have to do if fill in your card details so they can debit it from your account. Of course by no means they do not have access to your account and as any online transactions do not give out you password or PIN for an account. Online banking is very easy to do, I do it reguarly and I havn't had any issues. An alternative is to go into your bank and ask them to transfer the amount into their account. Another alternative and safer option is ask if the part supplier accept an internation money order, which over here can be obtained by the post office, The only problem with that is that it may take longer for you to recieve the goods and for the funds to go through and you may be charged slightly more.
If you have a Visa or mastercard, that would be the better option.
If I had a cat converter in the shed I wouldn't hesitate to send it to you free of charge, but unfortunatly I don't, sorry
