Any ideas if the rear shaft is interchangable with a '99 model? Mine has a worn CV and I was told by a diff place that the CV is not servicable or replacable. |

If the CV in excellent condition? I might grab it. Let me do a bit more research on these shafts and I'll let you know. |

Without knowing weather tintops rig is Auto or Manual, and what year it is, I can't know what he has. Yeah I don't agree with the bigjimny post by Obarno... "Using the auto transfer box will give you a reduction in high of 20% and 32% in low. " A change from a MT case of 1:1 and 2:002 to an AT case of 1.32 and 2.643 is 30% in both. If Zukenutter put in TJgears of 27% and that was too much of a change in high for him, I dare say 30% is going to be the same result for me even with slightly bigger tyres (ZK-235, ME-215) My feeling that if I put 31" rubber on, it would be a nice fit. |

Um... It says the year in the tread title....and I am 90% sure its a manual.... If it is too much reduction just swap to 4.1 r@p to try bring it back to standard with this t-case. |

Yeh mate... To confirm monkey us right. My car is a manual. I have done the math and it is about 30% reduction in high and a 30% in low.. searched the interweb to see if anyone else has done the same conversion from around the world and was unable to find anyone. Your more then welcome to come down and do a test fit for comparison. Would be good if it works out like it does (currently its only all talk on yhe net as to what it will be) as it would open up a path for the newer jimny owners |

2000. Yes, overlooked that. Changing from 4.3 to 4.1 is a difference of about 5%. Not sure if that would be enough to counter for highway. I really like my rev situation with the current setup, so I think the APIO gears are my only real option If I was going to do it, I'd want to swap for a later Auto electronic box. Would be too hard to test without the hole in the floor already I reckon :/ |

There is a hole in the floor mate, it ishas a cover over it with 4 screws in it... Just have to remove the floor coverings. Are you planning on fitting larger tyres? |

Eventually. I'm thinking 31's maybe 33's. With that, a 30% reduction would be nice but I'd still want the APIO 58's I reckon With bigger tyres brings other stresses on things such as brakes, diffs (and I've wrecked 2 rear pinions already! |

With bigger tyres brings other stresses on things such as brakes, diffs (and I've wrecked 2 rear pinions already! I redid the math and its about a 30% reduction in high and a 30% in low.. Shit.. 33s would look huge on a jimny. You will need some form of diff upgrade, be it chromos or something. |

Bugsta wrote: tintop. How are you calculating the 20% and 30%? Mark III Jimny is 1:1 High Range Mark II Jimny is 1.3:1 Minus the diff ratio difference Mark III Jimny diff ratio is 1:4.30 Mark II Jimny diff ratio is 1:4.09 Same equation for Low Range. It's all in a thread somewhere. Bugsta wrote: With that, a 30% reduction would be nice but I'd still want the APIO 58's I reckon
Not having a dig but I don't think the sort of reduction the APIO kit offers would suit your driving style. |
