This may fit GV autos as well, all depends on the rear output shaft

whats the best way count the splines from what point?

You will need to take the tcase off and count the output shaft on the gearbox. Maybe someone knows

a Rover LT230 would be a cheaper near equivalent in strength to an Atlas.

Yea, I am sure the gears could handle it but a Vit case is chain driven and I don't thin the chain would handle sticky 40", I am guessing you are running sticky treps.
If you are building a TT car I would cough up the cash and get an Atlas so you could run a digs too.
