This is a magic contraption!!! I bought it years ago when I was racing Dirt Bikes, lived in a unit with no garage and had no space for a trailer!
TOW your bike instead.
I towed my bike eveywhere with with no wear on tyres, chains or sprockets. I paid $300 7 years ago, looking for $50...
If you dont have room for a trailer, this is the ducks nuts. PM me.

they hold the bike across the back of the car.

So it doesn't hold the bike across the back of the car, it bolts onto your towbar and you sit the front wheel in the hole, then use your tie downs to hold it in place and literaly tow your bike on the back wheel. It is legal if your bike is registered and you have a plate on the back, if it's not reg then you can reg a bike rack and hang it on the back. Like I said, I towed my bike for 7 years and never once had a problem. I even towed it from Melbourne to Sydney and back...no problems.
