what is the chance of getting a good one of these (not worn where spigot bearing runs) and how many dollars

dave you will probably find any second hand ones you get will be just as bad as the one you already have.
your better off to put it in a lathe, machine it down and sleeve it. thats what I done to mine.

it's easy to turn it between centres but just take light cuts so it doesnt grab. even better if you have a drive dog you can use.

what material did you use to sleeve it with and what size did you turn it down to?

I sleeved it with some 10mm stainless tube. cant remember the exact size, but machine it so the tube is a couple of thou interference fit and when you press it on use a bit of locktite bearing retainer.
once pressed on put it back in the lathe and skim it back down to tolerance as the press fit will expand the sleeve slightly. (this also ensures that the sleeve is round and true.)

there should be enough "good section" of shaft to get a measurement of the original shaft diameter, was 10mm on mine.
