The clock spring in my column has apparantly broken causing the horn and Airbag not to function. Suzuki will not honour warranty stating that the vehicle being lifted as put excessive strain on the suspension and SRS components. I will be looking into this further as a plausible reason to deny warranty.

In the mean time, if I can get one cheap enough, I'd consider replacing it myself.

They have already denied warranty because of modifications. Not likely to be different for any other item.

A new one will cost me $775 fitted !!! aaarrrghhh

Well they could say that the steering wheel was turned past the clock sprig's limit while said mod's were being done...

If they wanted to, they could void your warranty if you farted in the car 20 day's before presenting it for work..

They didn't mention the steering wheel being turned past limits in the report, so, as far as I am concerned they don't get a second bite. I will be asking them in writing to explain how these modifications can technically cause the clock spring to fail. They won't be able to because its bollocks.

My 2 cents on this and have had one die. On mine I lost the horn. And mine has been play with lifted and steering column off. It wont make a difference if second hand part and air bag has gone off. Most wreaked one have. A new part is costly as it is half the column wiring too. Horn is connected though indicators and wiper loom.

If you do this yourself you really need to know what you are doing. Check the number of turns on the clock spring and steering wheel. It will move once removed from wreak. On my 01 series 2 airbag controller does not store a error. Once fixed light turned off.

If the vehicle in question has a bodylift i understand suzuki finding. As the column may have been unbolted from steering pump and moved. As I have done this the steering wheel may have been removed to straighten it. I i work will cars i know that people dont always tell the whole story. I do wish you luck with suzuki but if they help you with price or parts etc it will be under good will.

Cheers Rob
