The diff plug is just a 3/8" drive... Stick your ratchet or something on there with a good length breaker bar...

There are sump plug removal sockets that have a much squarer profile than a ratchet drive will have, however with care a ratchet will do it.

*Tie rod remover = Hammer.

*Socket = 50mm not 51mm. Will only be available in 3/4 drive.. I bought a socket and 3/4 breakerbar from Ripco for $60.

*3/8 drive ratchet will work fine.

I have a metric plug key tool from Autobarn. They look like a spanner with a bunch of different size shafts on the end. They are crap and a 3/8 socket drive is easier.

I use a 1/2" breaker bar with a 1/2" to 3/8" adaptor on the end. That way my ratchet isn't damaged on those really tight plugs...

There is a special socket you can buy to do the job. Not sure where you can buy them though.

the 3/8 ratchet idea is shit if the drive has rounded edges

lowrange sells the socket made for the job

Considering you will only be using it once or twice use a couple hammers preferably 3lb ones if you have them. Place one against one side of the tie rod end and hit the opposite side of the rod end with the other hammer. After a couple of decent hits it should vibrate itself loose.
