Has anyone ever checked if there is any difference between an F10A head and an F8A head, they look identical and both have 800 stamped on the side, manifolds are interchangeable so in distributor housing etc. Need to measure valves, ports, chamber and rocker gear. 303zuke might know. |

I have an F10a head on my F8a motor. Fitted fine. One of my mates fitted it for me, so I'm not sure if anything had to be swapped over, but he didn't mention anything. |

303zuke might know. Ooh, that's me! The only difference I remember is the two studs on the front near the Cam seal that retain the steel cam belt cover have a different bolt pattern. I think the F10A is both studs below the cam, while the F8A is diagonally opposite. I don't have an example of both heads to compare, but this pic of the cambelt covers shows the stud locations: |

Here's some pics of an F10A head I do have. you can see the two low studs on the front near the cam seal. As 2stroker mentioned, the F10A head also has "800" cast into it on the front left corner and the rear right corner. The parts lists give the same part number for the Inlet and Exhaust valves between the 800 and 1000 heads, but Folklore says the 1000 head flows better. That may be due to a better port design, or it could be BS and due to the newer, bigger and/or rebuilt engine performing better than a tired old F8A. |
