You got some nice looking lj Suzuki. Not to many here in the states they were not sold here in large numbers until 1986. Would you have a brake drum laying around in your spare parts by chance would really like to git my lj80 back on the road thanks, JIM |

OK I have given all my old ones away. The only one I have is on the steel scrap heap, it has been cut through the spline section. |

Meaning impossible beyond impossible none anywhere I guess its the same for lj80 front drums also. Seems like someone have an old drum laying around. Kinda in a hard place right now cant find a drum and no sammys around to steal a front axle assy off of. Anyone have any suggestion on I how I can repair this lj80 front thanks. JIM |

JIM It would probably be cheaper to get someone to send you over a few 410 CV's, and then use Samurai swivel hubs. Surely with a bit of hunting around you can get yourself a Samurai front diff. I do have some front drums, but they are in good shape, and sorry I don't want to see good ones get hacked up. |

There is a write-up on converting to the Samurai disk hubs HERE. All you will need to find are 1.0lt/SJ410 CV's which will be lighter and smaller to post than an LJ brake drum/hub. I'm sure someone here might help you out to find a pair. |

Brand new ones available HERE and HERE. The pictures look like stock photos of generic CVs, not specifically SJ410. Samurai front axle in the States listed HERE. OK, it is the opposite side of the country, but they're definately available, probably much closer to you. |

Well, postage on a second hand LJ brake drum won't be any cheaper than a pair of CVs, they're a solid chunk of iron. |

I have some old drums here but surely the cost of postage would be more than they're worth? On my LJ50 I originally used 410 CVs but found them hard to get and easy to break, (lockrights don't help). Atm I'm running 1.3 CVs with heat treated 4140 custom shafts. There are 2 sets here, 1 has strengthened CVs and 1 has normal ones. Soon I'll have CrMo CVs with 26 spline shafts to go in and will probably sell the old ones. One set have never been used the strengthened ones have only done a thousand k's or so after all it is an LJ50.. |
