im looking at getting this conversion

http://www.rocky-road.com/diesel.html

i have a few questions

has anybody done this?
how did it go?
would you recommend it?
did you find an engineer to sign off on it?
were there any complications?
after having done it, are you happy with it?
did any problems arise after the fact?

any help, advice, emails, websites or phone numbers of businesses or people that may assist and advise me would be greatly appreciated

i think you'll find the engine difficult to source.

Welcome to AZ mate.
You work around the corner from my brother in malaga. I love the look of your sierra :)
I dont think many people in australia have done a diesel conversion into a zook(i think i remember gwagon steve saying the torque is all in the wrong rev range)
Have you looked into the g16b(efi) engine out of a vitara. Im pretty sure they are the easiest option for the gains received.

thanks drop bear. :)
yeah i realize its gonna mean changing diff ratios and gearbox ratios. maybe even a new gearbox.

yeah i have looked into the vitara motor and the only price i could get was a couple of grand more expensive than the diesel. plus in my opinion diesel is far more effective for 4wding.

so im basically leaning towards diesel for low end torque and it seems it may be a similar or slightly cheaper price than the vitara motor.

Exactly what engine are you thinking of using, from what vehicle. The site you put up is an American site and the vehicles they are talking about "laying around junk yards" were not available in Australia. Also what gearbox are you thinking of running, small late model diesels are going to be front wheel drive.

Anything is possible mate but it all come down to dollars. You say that you were going to get a reconditioned one but you have not answered my question, a reconditioned engine out of what??, the engine that you want to use will have to come out of something.

If you can give us an idea of what you are thinking of using then we can give you an idea of what gearbox could be adapted to it.

If you use a diesel from a rear wheel drive like a ute for instance you can use the gearbox and all you have to do is have a jackshaft made that fits the gearbox one end and the suzuki transfer the other end.
