Guys I've got a 99 jimny which I just bought a winch for. The guy who is going to do the install has recommended I put a second battery in. Now it's very expensive. He has quoted like 700 buck to supply and install. Is there a cheaper way or has someone got one to sell me? |

700 isn't a bad quote mate... really you have about $200 - battery $100 - tray (with bracket and bolts and the arm piece that goes over top) $250 - wiring and connectors + isolator alone is ($70-$150) $200 - install labour even if you do it all yourself your still looking at about $400-$500... assuming a new battery, second and tray from wreckers (+welding your own brackets together), connectors etc When i got a quote for my GV for a second battery they quoted $1200 as they had to move washer bottles and stuff around. I would be happy with that quote. Where did you get your quote from? |

Just do it yourself. My dual battery sys cost me $70 + a battery + about $20 for wiring. Just made the bracket myself (i'm not very skilled but I'm happy with the job.) Goodluck if you decide to do that, it's fun to make your own things. |

I agree with Microwire, I set up a dual battery System for $200 doing it myself, and the majority of that was $100 on a battery tray. Suzies are easy to adapt one of the Supercheap 5buck trays..... You can get a Red Arc Solenoid for $75 off ebay..... Get in contact with your local CFA. They change the Batteries in their trucks every 12 months so always have a surplus of 'old' batteries. This is what I did and they just gave me one, no charge.... They're a Century N70, so PERFECT for winching with... heaps of power. And yeh, bout 20 or 30 bucks for the cabling.... Piece. of. piss TF |

Hi Brett, Yes a second battery will help (buy essentially halfing the load on both batterys) But if you are only using it for winching (not running fridges ect for a few days) you could actually just stick with 1 good battery. I beleive it is the last day of Danks Optima Battery sale. The D34 should fit in the standard spot with some minor mods. This battery could take abuse like no other battery and will come back for more. Perfect for winching. I have a duel battery set up and it have replace about 3 batteries in it over the years if I just went straight to a D34 I would of been better off. |

This plus a decent digital volt gauge and some common sense would be enough for 95% of situations you might find youself in |

Fit the tray and wire up your self... with the cash saved get a better battery and isolator. 3/4 down this page you will see my attempt at the super cheap battery tray option. http://nbs4x4club.com/forum/index.php?P ... c=11573.60 |
