howdy... I'm looking for a 4speed gearbox to fit a SJ410 (F10A engine) - metal dash 1.0L sierra.
would be great if you could 'vouch' for the gearbox. that it is in good working condition as far as you last used it etc without any known problems as it needs to replace my broken one as soon as possible.

Thanks 303zuke.
I'm not really sure. There is a banging sound that sounds like someone is hitting a side panel with a hammer (it's a thin tin sound). It isn't at a regular interval at all, it's all over the shop - random.
It's had a oil leek from the rear seal for a while but never realised how bad it was. I keep en eye on it but this second last lot of oil must have all come out within a few days. Took it for a breif drive and noticed the noise, realised it was louder then usual as well and changing was slightly harder.
So pottered home and filler her up (950ml / 1L max) and took her out again. The noises are there but they are very quite/muffed due to the oil.
Perhaps a bearing wasn't lubricated and now it's shot... if this is the case and I keep a better eye on the oil ... can I still drive on it until I can source another?
(I've already ordered new seals but they may take a while to get here as I'm trying to get genuine Suzuki ones)
It'll be right. I've got a shot gearbox in my ute that I still drive occasionally and I've heard stories of worse ones. Just keep in mind that it may fail completely one day and you should have a backup plan ready

Just wanted to update what I said above (quoted). This is incorrect.
The lite tinny banging noise in the gearbox is directly proportional to how fast the car is moving. Speeding up causing more frequent sounds. Slowing down puts them further apart.
