OK, im needing to "borrow" some ones vitara for a couple of hours. Jrzook being the smart cookie he is, is going to run some tests to see what signals the ECU from the 1.6 sends to the TCM for the AW4 auto. basically we just need to plug some probes into your wiring and see what signals come out. Happy to buy you a carton for your time. PM me if you can help us out. |

Are you sure that it is an AW4 and not an AW03 as described here: http://www.rhinoman.org/manuals/AW03_TCM/aw03.pdf |

That'd be an overseas variant no? Being a Suziki Sidekick. |

Correct. Though the model number for the JEEPs that used them was actually AW4 which i think is where it came from |

tanshi wrote: Though the model number for the JEEPs that used them was actually AW4 which i think is where it came from Yeah, I spent loads of time searching for AW4 information and didn't find anything that properly matched the Zuk TCM. If you only need a test connector then you can use a 26-pin connector from a 16V Vit ECU as long as you slice off the two outer polarization keys. The terminals are easy enough to remove if you need to swap their positions. |

James do you know if the firmware for the ECUs that came out in the manual vitaras support the auto TCM? There are output pins on the ECU socket but the plug just hasn't been populated. Dan |

right, that will give me another source for a plug if i can find one in a wrecker. i have one that almost fits from my j20 wiring loom, so i guess they are similar |

Which ECU have you got? I'd have to have a look back through my notes but I don't think the 16V manual ECUs have the auto functions in the firmware, they don't usually have the components populated on the PCB but thats not to hard a retrofit. The same ECU plugs were also used on Mazdas, Subarus and a few other Japanese cars as well as a bunch of other Zuks so you should be able to source one at a breakers easily enough. |

Did you have any luck developing this ? I'm buying an AW4 for my zook in the hope that one of you smart cookies develop a way to make the AW4 work as stand alone or with an aftermarket computer (namely my haltech E6K). I won't be able to use this auto until i (or someone else) figures this out |
