Howdy, It's a long shot, but here goes. I have a 1993 LWB Vitara that has lifts/spring spacers and it currently runs on Std (later model vitara) 16 inch rims with 225/75 BFG AT's. I have a set of std 15 inch Vitara rims in the shed and want to get a set of muds (Bighorn/BFG MT's etc) so I have the muds for off-road and the AT's for on-road, I was thinking 235/75 or 30x9.5. What I am chasing is someone who has a mud tyre on Std 15 inch vitara rim, in either 235/75 or 30x9.5 that I can mount and move around to check clearances etc before I go and buy. I would be happy to drive somewhere and do all the work to put the wheel on and off. I don't even want to drive with the 15 inch wheel on...I just want to put the wheel on, jack up my car and move my sterring wheel around (with the tyre off the ground) to see if anything rubs. Happy to part with a small bottle of scotch or something, if needed, for your troubles. TIA. |

235/75 15s are smaller than your 225/75 16s, so you know they'll be fine. How high is your spacer lift? Any less than 50mm and you might be pushing your luck with 30s. |

Thanks for the reply DarkHorse. I was aware that there is a small height diff (around 10mm) between the 235/75/15 and 225/75/16. I was not overly concerned with losing this small amount of clearance. My concern is the extra width (235 vs 225) and how that might 'impact' on guards and/or rub on the chassis etc. I have 2 inch springs and 30mm spacers. I was using the 30x9.5 as an option for testing and consideration. Whilst I'd like to go that way (we all want extra clearance!!), in reading this forum and others, the extra height/width vs the additional loss in 'power' to drive them is probably is not worth the hassle. What I find most amusing is that 30x9.5's are cheaper than 235/75/15 in muddies in WA. I would have though the demand for metric would far outweighed the imperial size. |

i was running 235's with a 2" sus lift for ages, gearing is fine with them + no rubbing. |
