Like I have already told you, if someone has a good rust free one they are hardly likely to part it out so that you can have the body. Fix yours (properly)

I saw it a couple of months back when he first bought it and its not that bad, you could sort the body rust out if you put in a few decent weekends. A mate and I actually did the 1 litre and disc brake front end in that ute many years ago, a couple of owners back, it was a great little ute and could be again. It's unfortunate that it was left sitting so long and the rust got in. I hope he sells if to someone to get back on the road, not wreck out.

At the end of the day it's an old suzuki 4wd ute. It's a great vehicle to leRn how to do your rust repairs properly. If it was my hobby and I had a great migwelder. I'd start teaching myself on the floor. It's not really seen and it's kind of hidden. Then as u get better venture out into the exterior panels!
Imagine those guys that restore old Holden's and fords that have all the curvy panels like xps, xbs, ehs, hr etc etc. those guys have it hard!

reeceh wrote: It's a great vehicle to leRn how to do your rust repairs properly. I disagree. Everywhere that an LJ81 normally rusts is a fairly complex shape and is either highly visible (eg corners of the bonnet, A pillars, drip rails/roof corners ect) or is structural (body mounts, spring hangers/bottom of the chassis, battery tray ect). There's bugger all chance of getting decent patch panels and because they're a farm spec 4WD, they're always going to be much rustier than the average passenger vehicle of the same era. Also the panels are very, very thin. That vs a falcadore which has off the shelf new patch panels and a bajillion wrecks to cut panels out of, isn't particularly susceptible to structural rust, has decently thick panels and doesn't require being stripped right down to fix the most common rust issues (like front body mounts in an LJ, cab off to fix. Or chassis rust in LJ81s). The only things that make an LJ a good vehicle to learn how to do rust repairs on is that you probably aren't going to care to much what it looks like and you're going to be repairing a LOT of rust. Also, x2 on what tanshi says.
