Vehicle: 2001 Jimny Auto

Hi Guys & Girls,
I'm in a bit of a pickle and need an auto gearbox for my Jimny. I have been told that my 2001 Jimny is a non-VVT model.
The car is currently at a transmission specialist, but they are having a very difficult time trying to find me a box from the wreckers.

Do any of you know where I can find a suitable auto gearbox?
Also - are there any other year/model gearbox that I could use instead?

Thanks everyone!

I can’t confirm if a VVT transmission is the same, but it wouldn’t surprise me. A G series transmission core would *probably* work with the bellhousing swapped, but I’m also unable to confirm this.

What I can confirm is that there’s no other model of vehicle with an interchangeable transmission. It’s unique to the Jimny.

Vvt is different. It may well interchange but the ratios are different.

Are the ratios better in the VVT? Would it be a worthwhile conversion if it fitted?

I don't remember exact numbers but vvt has slightly closer ratios. Not worthwhile IMO.

I spoke to Brian (a nice bloke), he said these auto boxes are just getting harder and harder to find, as there are less of them on the road nowadays, and a fair few of them have had transmission issues as well.

I might have to consider a manual conversion...

Also try gumtree and Facebook market place/buy & sell pages.

suzukitas (on here often) might be worth a go too. His name is Brad and his number is 0437097475

Thanks Dougie.
I've never heard of a fire tire box before. is that an aftermarket option? What is involved with the fitment and what sort of price are you asking?
