I'm sure you've all seen the ads in the 4WD Action magazine and on the DVD for Staun tyre deflators.

They seem to be rather high priced at round $80 a set, a little cheaper on ebay.

Are the other/cheaper brands any good. ARB, etc?

I reckon I'd want a set in the range 5 - 30PSI.

What experience have you guys had with them here?

Do they have PSI markings on the side for easy adjustment or what?

Get the ARB one, it is fast and easy to use.
Aside from that, Stauns are very temperamental - I have some but never use them.
I use a bush ranger type, it is a tyre guage and deflator in one.

I set mine years ago, I screw them on, the tyres go down, I go on the sand and blow up CV's

makes an unscientific operation a bit less stuffing around, nothing more

With the Stauns too, there are two types - If it is for your zook, get the lower PSI ones I reckon.
One set does like 5-12PSI, the other does 12-18 or something...

Lump - The ones i have come across are 0-10, 5-30 and 15-55. i think 5-30 would be suitable for me.

I just bought a new ARB one two weeks ago, and after seeing other people use all sorts of different brands, some good, some bad, I have fount the ARB to be fantasic. Pick the pressure you want and st them all the same. The only con I can come up with, is that you can only do one tyre at a time, but is still my pick of the bunch.

I bought one of the ARB ezy deflators & I can have all 4 tyres down to 8psi in the time it takes a mate to let one down to 12psi using a stick.

Every time I use it I wonder what I was doing for all those years... It's like using ratchet spanners for the first time, WTF did I actually turn that bolt 1/8th of a turn pulling the spanner off each time & going again!!!

The best thing about it is it's not set up for one pressure like the stauns & it was cheaper.

I have both the staun and the ARB ezy deflator. Staun ones are ok but only give you one useable set pressure, unless you set the differently and use them independant of one another. I have mine set to a pressure of around 10 PSI. If I want anything other than that I use the ezy deflator (which is a fairly new purchase for me). Must say its a very good item and would suit most peoples tyre pressure needs.

I seconded it with the "x steking" (aka post whore) now it's been answered it can be shut & put to bed.

I've got Stauns and don't mind them. I've used the ARB one and think it's awesome, if I had spare cash I'd have one of them too.

Well worth it.

yeah i run 8psi up front and 6psi in the rear... never had a problem

I run very soft sand mostly, so soft as is good.

I recon as if I set them at 6, an get in the shit, I can go down to 3 or so an get out, piece of cake.

After taking mates out an they see how well the strauns work, they all get them.

I have never used any other so cannot comment on them.

I just know, when I air down by hand, all the bloody valves are on the bottom, i break me back, and the flies give me the shits big time, this way, screw on, forget.

Every now and then, dunno, say 10 times I air down, I check with my digital gauge, but never a change of pressure.
