so it looks like the tiny coolant leak ive been chasing in my zook with g16b for ages just above driver side engine mount,behind pipe from back of water pump is now visible as a crack in the block(or very very small pinhole at that)

Have been looking for it for a while then today my mate put his little pressure test thingy on the radiator pumped it up a little and found the slightest weep.Has anyone else had similar problems or only really in the head?Also does it sould like its a possible repair

I have heard of G16 blocks cracking and letting water out...
Whether or not it's repairable would have to be judged on a case by case basis.

bugger.Damo....any idea on if it was fixed?the leak appears to be very very minor but i guess depends where it is in relation to other parts

is a little bit annoying hope it can be sorted

drain the coolant and get a good welder to run a weld over the crack, or stick some chemiweld in the cooling system

if there is a chance of getting chemi to take ill give it a go......what have i got to lose i guess.

was talking to my boss last night about it and he reckons going off how small it seems its worth a try as is in the car now to see if he can weld it up.i didnt even think of him,forgot for years that was all he did for a job was weld up cracked heads and blocks.Will see how i go but pretty keen on just trying some chemiweld 1st if people think its worth it?THANKS

If his specialty is welding up cracked heads and blocks, i would go with the welding, its more permanent/longer lasting, and gives more peace of mind

I had something similiar to what you have experienced and a mate in the game put me onto a product called "Seal UP"

He has had customers use it up to 7yrs ago and the engine is still going strong. I've use it in mine some months ago and it has fixed the problem no worries. The only thing is it doesn't mix with Coolant with Glycanol. You have to drain/flush the radiator plenty well then run it for a while, then flush again and then put your coolant back in.... all good.

Or if u use a coolant that uses Organic stuff (ie No Glycanol) then u don't have to worry about the mixing problems.....

I would weld over anything else nay day, especially if he knows how to do it, otherwise chemiweld might contaminate the crack and the weld wont stick later

i used that seal-up on my radiator, haven looked back since
well 2 wekks ago hahah is good gear though

i have had a couple of mechanic mates today say if it is small that chemi should work....or ill look into this sealup stuff.

Am waiting to put it under pressure again so i can see the leak and mark it to show my boss and see his thoughts.Anyone had experience in doing it on the car or only stripped down on the bench?Thanks

also is this seal up really that dodgy of a way?

If $$ is not an issue, then source another motor/block (maybe a Baleno Block) otherwise I personally don't see a problem with Seal UP. What's the worse that can happen... It leak again... anyways it would just mean getting another block/motor so for a little amount of $$ I'm delaying spending a big amount of $$ for who knows how long..... I'm fine with Seal UP As I said, my mate knows of customers still running around 7yrs later with no problems......

I got mine for Hammers Auto on the northside but I think the likes of Burtons Auto or Repco should sell as well
