pmsl..
anyway josh it should be stamped on the bas somewhere on the side.
you could just measure the throats though and be sure of it.
try googling jetting specs for 32/36 webber, thats what i reckon it is.
if you come accros any for A14 or similiar that would be close, oh and im no mechanic so if im wrong im happy to be corrected.

I think 38 DGxx, ES or AS depending on what choke it used to have

another thing, does it look like there has been a choke fitted at some time? if its never had one it may of been part of a multi carb set

either way its more a performance type, if I could find a manifold to fit it to my mini I would make an offer on it :)

yeah its an AS then and thats a water choke like a sierra has

and the 38 in the model means 38mm barrels, oyull need to read up to see if they have swappable chokes and so on, there is sooooooo much more to tuning webers than getting the right jets in there

if it has no jets look at what size a std 2ltr escort has and come 2 sizes smaller. that will get you going pretty close to what you need.

pic of what has been don to the bowl and float to make it work on nuts angles please!

I wonder how much blocking up the float vents and putting that breather in has to do with it, similar mod gets done to holleys to stop em spewing down the throats

Hi 31 zook,

I have had two escorts so I can shed a little light - might not be on much but may help though.

The Australian 2.0L escort had a 32/36 weber on it. From 0 - 1/2 throttle only the primary would open up (I think the smaller throat - the 32 mm barrel) and from 1/2 - full throttle both would operate open up with both being open fully open at full throttle. You could look down the carb and tell visually the different sizes of the barrels.

In the second escort I had (RS) the previous owner had done a mod and made both throats open together with a linkage/cogs at the back of the carb like in your very first pic and you could tell both barrels are the same size.

Are yours 38mm across both? If so I think you have a 38/38

^^ a link from http://www.toyheadauto.com/PerformanceP ... nents.html

Sorry can't help on jets.

38/38 webber tuning guide

I bolted it all down and now it revs to about 5000rpm then goes down to 500rpm then repeats the cycle. while it's doing this there is a high pitch whistle going when it revs hard.... im not touching the throttle cable while this is happening btw. do yas now how to fix it?

cheers :D

yeah you got it in one, the way it's running is still going harder than the stocko.

so how do i fix it? bigger jets? Im running 45s but ill try 50s later,

and it idles at 2000rpm most of the time with the idle screw not touching the throttle assembly, what would cause this?

will it damage my motor running like this?

sorry for all the questions...

MMMMM 38 syncro 8)
Yes josh there must be an air leak somewhere I had it down to 900rpm.
How did you go with the "light" reading I gave you lol.
Remember the 38 uses both barrels at the same time so mix has to be done the same both sides.
You will LOVE the power.
Nik

P.s. I forgot to say be careful tightening it down as it can warp.
You wont need the choke when its set up right Ive never ran a choke on my webers.
Check for leakes to get rid of that high idle.
Nik
