Okay so my stock alternator was sad for a few years, eventually it died and so I installed my falcon alternator last weekend... Driven about a dozen 10k trips since then, and now my battery is charged (it was totally flat from not bieng driven for a month) it's now putting over 17 volts into the battery.. It's all really hott and it blew like 3 if the caps off the top of the battery..


Dodgy alternator maybe...?

EL's and EF's have them. you need a mitsi alternator not the bosch

when your alt is reading 17 volts, what is the sense wire on the alt reading?

if like all sierras its a bit of a dodgy wire and it reads low it will make the battery overcharge, best to run a wire direct from the battery via a relay

It was 17 volts at the battery. I'm not sure about anywhere else. Will check when I get back from school.. And yeah it's a mitsubishi one... Is a regulator fixable or should I just go to wreckers and get completly different one?

Reg should be fixable, take it to an autolec. Should be a reasonabley cheap fix also

nah they arent cheap cause its soldered to teh diodes which also die and takes forever to get to, not like a bosch that just screws in the side

either that or the sparky that looked at mine is useless
