hey guys had a friend call me yesterday saying her car had broken down and stopped inside the local cop shop. the problem was that the car over heated and the hose split and exploded they installed a new hose and then when they were driving it pulled over to a hissing noise and the pipe had been sucked in or something the hose also ballooned at some point. i changed the thermo stat over and then refilled the radiatior with the heater on and all, but then everything in the radiator just boiled and sprayed everywhere, so i pulled the thermo stat out and tried again same thing happened... can any one suggest what is wrong with the car and what needs to be replaced?? its a 86 laser

the head gasket has blown and the cylinders are pumping into the cooling system and pressurizing it

Definately sounds like cooked motor. Take out the plugs and turn over the motor with the key. Watch out for high pressure water

Is the radiator clogged up at all ? Are the fins on the cores bent over ? When you take the radiator cap off, and look inside, may need a torch, can you see if the cores are blocked or open ?
