hey fellas

what are the the best 235/75r15 or 30's muddie to put on a sierra. maxis, mickey's, simex, silverstone, gooodyear, those brands. ideal for mud,rocks,trail,sand, good in the wet, and will last a while. prices of the tyres would help alot

might get a second lot of rims to put tyres on so i can use them off road only

if offroad only go silverstone or simex... theyll be the best in mud every time.

i daily drive on my simex - they do wear a bit and howl like crazy, but they grip the road better than my old cooper STTs did, especially in the wet!

I've got some Bridgestone Dulers MT's on mine. I've still not really tryed them in the mud, because Perth is WAY TO DRY. I rate them on the road though, they aren't loud at all they look good and they are affordable

Federal couraguas are pretty good... They were on my Sierra when I got it.

Otherwise I hear great reviews about bfg km2s

You really have to know what type of work your primarly going to be doing.

For mud you'd want something that clears nicely, so the ET's or silverstones will get the job done.
If it's sand/road work then you'd want something less agressive like the KM2's but will still perform all round.
Rocks, probably the baja or trep.

yea i been pretty keen on the trepadors. does the trekkers perform well with rocks

ET's suck on gravel or loose dry surfaces... but on smooth rock theyre fine. theyre a mud tyre though, not an all rounder.

BFG KM2's are working really well!! Quiet tire onroad, good in mud, rocks fast dirt and the wet stuff.

Mate if your worried about how long they will last, forget the ET's and similar...

I am yet to see a major flaw with the Federals anyway, know a few poeple running them on different setup Zooks, and they all do quite well .

id recommend the bfg muddies. theyre expensive for a very good reason. i dont have the muddies, but i run BFG A/Ts, happy enough with their mud performance being an all terrain, but they are literally unbeatable on loose gravel roads, especially once the gravel is damp and a little sloppy. plus, a recent article in a 4wd magazine (not sure on whether im allowed to mention names due to advertising rules, etc, but most people should know which im talking about) compared a few muddies, BFG M/T was actually quieter than quite a few big name A/Ts... wasnt the best in the mud, or the sand, or the rocks, but was by far the best all rounder...

saw some 30" KM2's in action in mud on the weekend and they did clear the mud very well... not sure how sticky the mud was, but my ET's were clear and so were the KM2s.. they are a close-ish pattern so in really goopy stuff they'd need some wheel speed to clear out, but they do look great as and allrounder muddy.

the km2's look great it just the cost of them im not sure about aye, im looking at spending only 1200 on tyres

That statement makes no sence, mate some people do 5 years worth of driving in a year. On the other hand a set of tyres can last forever if you never drive the car. We know people that wear out a new set of mud tyres in one weekend of racing.

ok well im not sure how many k's it was but would ov been less then 40,000k's, the car is driven every day, only blacktop driving

The only time I got stopped with them (and I hit some pretty heavy mud) was when they were simply too small and the car sank to the diffs

I wanted the extremes...but at nearly double the price I think I would have noticed another 700 bucks more missing than I would have noticed the extra off road grip

they have never let me down on rocks, mud, sand, etc etc etc
