Hey guys not sure what happend with my other post so ill post it again

I need help, i want 31" tyres on my sierra but i was thinking i would of had 15" rims but now buying 16" rims i want to know if i want to keep it at the same diamerter as a 31 on 15s would i have to get 30" on 16s ???

It sounds right but i cant be to sure

any help would be shweet guys

31" or 30" is the overall diameter of the tyre regardless of the rim.
ie. a 31" tyre on a 15" rim or 16" rim is always still 31" tall. the 16" rim version has slightly less sidewall.

I see so the 31" means from top of the tread (That sits Under the gaurd) to the bottom of the tread (that is on the ground) thanks mika for your help

be carefull though , there is usually a decent price difference between the price of 15 and 16 inch.

If your looking for a 31" tyre there's no valid reason to go to a 16" rim. Rims and tyres are more expensive, have a higher load rating (generally) and don't conform as well off road.

There's a good case for 16 (or 17") rims once over 35" diameter, but otherwise there's nothing wrong with 15's.

The advantage of 16" rims is the availability of tall, narrow, aggressive tyres - these work much better offroad in victoria than wider tyres.
