my gearbox stuck in reverse its a sierra 5 speed i put a clutch in a few mouths ago and put new oil in at the same time and when i come to test it the gears where hard to get like had to swing off the shifter to get them and it wasn't that hard before and then we got it to sorta work and hope it would free up but it didn't and got worse and now its stuck reverse any ideas on how to fix it? i thought the oil might have been to think but when i did a search looks like i useing the right stuff

can you select rev with the eng off???
if yes adjust your clutch..

Or you put the clutch plate in back to front..

nah i try with the clutch right in and moving the leaver then let the clutch out and move it no luck so don't think its that

nah its not that i don't think the clutch grabs half way up so think that part of it is fine

Did you try that??
was rev the first gear you tried??

H/brake off, all wheel's on the ground ing OFF, rock the car & try to select neutral.

stuck as in cant take it out of reverse at all?
does the shifter flop around a lot?

i did it motor on and off but will have that other one a try in the morning and see how i go and no it was the last didn't wont to go in any other gear

yeah wont move and yeah it dose u would think it was sorta in natural but wont go anyway it sounds like it select a gear but then its still stuck but it was stuck in natural first

well i got the bolt out the 4speed it was broken two so i made a new bolt up today just ground of some of the thread just to see if that was the problem then get a proper one later but its still stuck wont come out i got my mate to rock the car for me wile trying to get it to move and nothing any other suggestion?

See down the hole, in the pic you have the same square looking thingy??
The one to the top, see how the shaft to the left seems to be behind it?
That square thing should be on a spring, use a blade screw driver to push it away from the selector, then try to leaver that selector toward the right.
If that don't work, you may have damaged a selector deeper in the box 7 will need stripping.

Use a screwdriver to move the reverse gate back to the correct position while the shifter is out , Cheers Paul.

yeah you arent putting the stick back in the right spot, you need to either get it back in neutral or stick the shifter back in reverse

yeah thats what its like but when i put it in it only go right down in one spot the wrong one by the sounds of it

on the left is what teh slots in your box will look like, on the right is how they need to be before you put the stick in,m use a big screwdriver to pop it back, then it will be in neutral

well new problem i got it out of reverse now yay but its makeing griding noise now but i got it to stop when rocking it now should i try and get first gear now? just dont wont to make it worse

nah its not and its cos it wasn't right out reverse now its hard to change gears

Does it have a good clutch peddle?
Is it adjusted properly?
