well replacement is now imminent as my no. 3 cylinder stops firing after 250k's due to oiling up, it is followed shortly by no. 4 and then i am left with a top speed of 60, if the wind blows the right direction 8O .

at the moment I have three options:

1. 1600cc short motor from suzi sport, parts: $1300, labor: a case of beer(backyard installation)

2. engine reco + bore to 1.4/5/6(can't remember what the guy said now  ) supplied and fitted: $1600 at an engine shop

3. 100% brand new engine from the suzuki dealer, supplied and fitted: $2500

opinions...?

Nah, sorry I don't know anyone cheaper.
The reason I asked was during my half assed effort a couple of months ago, the cheapest I could find was about $2500.

I've made the decision to keep driving until it blows up and then probably go for the short engine or see if I can pick up a complete 1.6 through wreckers or privately.

I guess that I'll see what the best option is when the time comes.

I thought that you might be interested in this.
These guys have a g16A engine for $1000 and a G16A Vitara front cut for $1700.
Asian Auto Spares
Not sure what shipping to Canberra would be.

Hope this helps.

If so what option did you take?

Cheers

I wish, i burned out the clutch and the car wouldnt move, so I get it back 2moz with a $600 bill. so I start the saving process again :( Last exam (ever :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: ) is on Tuesday so I will be able to work a whole lot more. We had a quick peak in the engine (very cool fiber optic cameras 8) because we could) and it appears that its just burned out rings and no other damage. so Queanbeyan engine shop will be putting in just new rings and servicing the head, and all the rest. Not a full re-co but will be enough to restore it to its former glory.

Forgive me for asking, but how much is that going to set you back?
The reason I'm asking is, I think (I haven't diagnosed it yet) that I've got either poorly seated valves or dodgy rings.
I should find the time to diagnose it properly in the next couple of weeks.

using the camera? Urrrrr i may or may not have borrowed it from the physics department  it was my teachers idea, he said it would b "cool" to do it

but yeah all the valves were smooth and flush to the head, no sign of oil there, but the rings we could see oil seeping in as we cranked(by hand) the motor.

Queanbeyan quoted be about a grand to service the head and do the rings

as i said it was very cool 8)

tru, where abouts u from?? ill get a price for u to completely rebuild your engine. that way it will be maximum price, anything u dont need doing will just make it cheaper. unless u know exactly what needs to be done??
