Wot are your 'off the shelf' options for a 89 hardtop zook?

Just your regular $40 gutter mount racks would do. I've proven them to hold down a 12ft tinny

They were on my VR commo, but since I've sold that car I had them laying around in the shed so I gave them to Llewelyn, Maybe he can put up a photo.

I want some too, but also with the option of a removeable cargo rack.

Is there much difference between the no name roof racks and Rola racks, or is the only difference the price? Prefer something that clamps on and doesn't damage the gutters (finally got em straight and want to keep them that way).

The Rhino Mont Blanc are pretty much the same quality as your cheapies from Super dooper cheap, Ripso etc. They have a rubber backing to prevent damage and slipping.

The cage are easily clamped onto any racks.

The only issue with the square type racks is that they make a bit of noise over 80-100kph, but I just turned up the stereo.

You guy's are bloody lucky, The racks for a Vitara are at least $300 :(
Rhino racks are close to $400 8O

I've got Rola racks on mine ... reckon they look great. Mine are actually off a Landcruiser 100 series ($50 off mate, never fitted) so the curve of the rails isn't an exact match to the roof - not that you'd notice. Had to cut the rails slightly and bought Sierra compatible edge fittings ($60).

Yeah, they look sweet - is that some sort of spotty mounting point kinda above the passengers head?

Hey - you got a bump stop for an open bonnet too - great idea (gonna copy that  )

Nice number plate too - they must've cost a fortune :)

Nah the thing over the passenger side is a bike mount ... got one for the driver's side too so can take 2 bikes on it. Spotty mounts for shooting are still to be fabbed up ... have got 2 cheap 170mm 55W HID spots sitting outside in primer at the moment ready for a coat of stealth black (rather than chrome bling) ;)
