Okay ... was this the mod that allowed you to use 2 x short shafts like the Calmini avnil set up?
It looks like a pretty good set up. Where did this one get built, as I'm in Sydney but am VERY interested in this?

yeah it's the same set up as the calmini anvil, the pics Gwagonsteve posted are from a victorian vitara, Polar_Bear & I are in the process of getting 2 made up.
it can be done by welding the LHS axle flange to the stub on the RHS but there is nothing to support the stub axle on the diff end apart from the bush... this thread was slightly hi-jacked with the production of the non-genunie bush.

oh bugger....
i think we started this project just before you got the splining equipment, from what i understand the with the set up that CJ is running & what we are getting made is LHS axle gets cut, annealed, resplined & then rehardened & then there is the machined bearing carrier.
what sort of material do you like to work with, stone wash denim?

Any chance I can get hold of the specs, I think Polarbear mentioned CAD drawings on a PDF file floating around?

Did you get Joe to do this or somewhere local in Radelaide?
Really keen to do this if you can do the R&D for us!

if you're keen for one, i can ask if hes up to making another one, you would need to supply the passenger side shaft to be cut down, and it might take a while (6 months) to get done, but you'd need to find a steel diff to put it in

This sure has my brain going,
I have to change the drivers side cv/axle anyway,
so time is right to think about these options.

Think I will make one of these, I have enough parts.
And then get one of the poly bushes.
thats a solution just within buget and abilities.

which should effectively do the same job, for probably close on $100 or so, this mod would have cost me around 400 bucks so far

Yeah I looked into the option of cutting down, grinding a new proper shaft, fitting up a bearing etc, and even using friends favors, it was going to be out of the realms of my pocket.
After changing the axle yesterday, I realised using a passenger side axle type would be much better, particulary for a track side repair.

Started to collect, clean and organise bits.
Cut position of the cv cup will be crucial, to keep length/freeplay right,
and make sure bolts miss the diff bracket.
Will get cup cut on an accurate drop saw, angle of cut needs to be very right.
don't want a wobbly cv/axle.
Probably get it welded by someone other than me, can't trust my own skills for that.

On the cad drawing on page one there doesnt seem to be a pcd for the bearing retainer 4 mounting bolts and a depth measurement from the circlip to where the bearing bottoms out. I'd like to have a go at making this up at work so can someone post up these measurements
