my 95 sierra has a pretty noisey whine to it not that bad under accelration but terrible under decceleration sounds sort of metalic noise but it goes away when i apply the clutch would this be my gear box it has 227 000 kms on it

is the noise consistent with the engine revs or car speed? as in, if you change a gear does it become slightly louder or quieter, or the same regardless of the RPM?

i would be checking oil levels first... or try replacing oil completely. might at least lessen the noise...

probably transfer case noise. very common

gear box oil is fine done it a couple of months ago will check tranfer oil

That mean's nothing if you've been through water, would pay to at least check it..

i haven't been through any water just checked transfer oil it seemed a little low (had to put finger in and around the filler hole to feel any oil ) i dropped it and put some new stuff in there will have to c how it goes now.when i tipped the old oil into a 1.5ltr bottle it was under half way up so guess it had around 600ml-700ml of oil in it so would this have any thing to do with the noise or could it be a bearing related problem
