driving to work this morning and
seen a suzuki bogged and decided i couldnt just drive past.

Image

pulled it out of one hole then it got stuck in another trying to reverse out.
whilst winching out of second hole my car died. Dead flat not even a tick.
one of me mates pulled over jumped me car but when i started winchin again it just died all over again. this is with me revving a bit. ended up using jumper leads on my car whilst winching it worked.

im guessing i need alternator upgrade (el falcon one)
should i get a new battery aswell?

i also ended up 1 hr and a half late for work

Im about to set one up in my car. In my dads old 80 series he used a heavy duty relay. which is what ill probably end up doing if there cheaper then the battery isolators on ebay and jaycar.

i jus installed a red arc system
dads been using his for 4 or so years never failed
wire up the winch to your second battery that way if main drops to 12.8 the system will disconnect the second from the main
and still charge both with engine on
great working setup in my opinion

the battery could of decided to give up at the same time too I guess

to check, undo them and sand the posts and terminals and stick em back on, if you have a battery charger you could hook it up and see if it charges as well

A meter on teh battery is also useful, if you are showing less than 12v without thte engine running its probably stuffed, none of which is really related to dual batteries or anything or needing one

winch should allways be on the main battery UNLESS you have a manual solenoid.
