Took the drive shaft off to repair something and when we put it back on it won't engage 4wd.

Working on it right now...and hints?

It's got vacuum operated hubs.

The transfer case sounds like it's doing it's thing.

don't they have an earth wire or some other wire that hangs down low? that hasn't been knocked/damaged?

It was working fine when my mate was removing the driveshaft and now after putting it back on it doesn't.

We can feel it Engaging the shaft, but te hubs are not locking.

It's booked into Suzuki on Thurs so maybe they can figure it out as we are completely stumped.

I'm not on a PC so it's easier to just re-post.

its a problem with the vacum hubs. its been covered hear heaps of times before.

or just do yourself a favour and fit manual hubs.

It appears as if one of the solenoids is damaged after all and is causing it to leak transfer case oil.

It has hit the cat on my exhaust as we towed the car home behind my Friends cruiser.

This will be the 2nd time I have replaced this part.

It was working off road on Sat, but we didn't fully secure the t/case and now it looks like I am paying the price.

At least we hope that's the problem.

Check wire coming out of transfer case, had the same problem

Have you tried moving the car a lil bit??

It selects useing an electric lil motor, if the gear's are not lined up it give's up just to piss you off..

Yeah we tried moving the car back and forward...also drive around it a bit.

This solenoid that I replaced already is leaking oil and the cap covering it has mostly sheered off from an impact on my cat (exhaust).

I am sure this is what it must be...otherwise it's off to a Suzuki specialist for further investigation.

Thats exactly what happen to mine, suzuki charged $180 to replace it and that was under warranty!! They stated that it wasn't "natural causes", "what?, to a critical wire not protected by a bash plate?", I keep the damaged one in my garage to whinge to ppl about my little experience. F*#kin electronic cases!!

another reason why I bought my Jimny with a manual trasfer... I dnt trust in push buttons :wink:

i got a manual transfer as well, also put manual hubs on casue mine bugged up. been workin fine ever scince

Yup Suzuki can confirm that my solenoid is again damaged!

Got my gearbox seal replaced under warranty and it's off to Suzistore on Mon for a service and to replace the solenoid.
