Got pulled over yesty for a RBT and the copper suggested I move my number plate as the tow bar was blocking it. Anyone done that before? Pics?

Yeah, i have a goofy bracket on there for my UHF antenna, so would have to move or modify that. I was thinking of using the spare mount, but that might be a PITA when you have to take off the spare.

I did it on the back of a jerrycan holder, I think straight on the back door with a spare would be anti ADR cause of visability angle rules

Hey I know, maybe I should do a jerrycan holder, UHF antenna mount and number plate all in one. That would work. Then all i'll have to worry about is my tailgate falling off!

make sure you put a number plate spinner in there too

the back door wont come off cause that only happens in Victoria

I got booked years ago in my Sigma for that same thing & this was before speed cameras & redlight cameras too.

Tow ball obstructing the number plate. What a load of crap I said to the cop'a, this was a factory fitted towbar ie it came on the vehicle from the factory, and really all it was obstructing was the "." in the middle.

They ended up going all over my car and tried to get me for everything but thats all they could find.

It was funny cause I heard them talking on the scanner to some traffic branch unit asking them questions on various stuff like how low were the spotlights allowed to be on the front of the car. They tried to get me for that too saying that spotlights arn't only allowed to be mounted below the bumper bar or above the standard headlights. Thing was they were drilled into the bottom of the bumper hanging down. So technicly they are mounted to the bumper its self so haha. Looser cop'a.

He said if I wasnt towing a trailer I should take the tow bar off. Yeah Riiiite I said. So it ended up costing me $60 and about 1hour on the side of the road while the Pizza's I was delivering got cold.

Serves you right for driving a Sigma you shoulda just put a jerrycan holder on the back

YEah well it looks like I learnt from my mistakes when I was 17 cauz I have one now..



I think when I make my rear tube bar up I might migrate the numberplate to the jerrycan holder as I plan on having a winch where the numberplate normally is.
