Hey
I just installed my new clutch cable and it is way to tight!
I think this is due to the pedal adjustment.
Any ideas?

dont touch the pedal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

loosen the cable at the gearbox end, the big knob thing on the end screws in and out, you want the slightest amount of freeplay int he clutch arm

I adjusted my cable to all kinds of different ways and is still way to tight!
PS why does the Clutch Pedal have "Switch" on it?

Mate i have no idea, Dont think soo , my Suzuki Service Manual says i need to connect my " Ohm meter " up to the bedal p4 i adjust, im like WTF

you can adjust the bracket on teh engine mount too, screw the nute further up the cable to get more slack, or screw the end bit out on teh cable to get more slack

don't worry bout that...is just a gearbox emmisions switch. if you had probs with the first cable, and now you have probs with the second as in bein too hard on the foot... i think you have clutch issues.

K ill explain what happens. If i make it slack like u recommend ( which i have already tried) all that happens is the where the clutch grabs changes forceing me to push the pedal way to far in and when it goes in a fare way it become hard to push for the last 10 CM this is just making it arkward. When i tighten it , it just changes the friction point earlier adn then become stiff hard to push in!

the more slack you have the closer to the floor it will bite and the less the higher it will bite but you can also push the pressure plate too far and risk teh throwout bearing running all the time and seizing

just set it so you have about 2mm play at the end of the arm on the box and live with it , clutch pedals are supposed to go to the floor

The Clutch is fine its just the tension of whateva. I had a look under the pedal just then and there is a little pin that rides the pedal and it is making the pressure increase therefore harder to push down/

if it all worked before and all you changed is the clutch cable then the problem is adjustment of the cable none of the pedal stops

was it easy before? like joe said its probably full of crud, though clutches are supposed to be heavy at the top and then get lighter, perhaps your old cable made it heavy all the way so you didnt notice?

nah my old one was light the whole way this one is SOOO HARD the whole way and i am not happy with it at all. i like the light clutches when ya push them in nice and easy.

i had a problem with my vitaras cable clutch and got it replaced (the real problem was the firewall where the clutch went through) and my mechanic said to me that if the pedal feel gets harder, then i have clutch problems too.
if this is a common problem, how weak is the clutch to begin with, and what is a good replacement?

It's not really a weakness thing. When they get lots of dust and mud in the bellhousing everything tends to be harder to move. Release bearing, pressure plate etc.

We use the Exedy clutches in our rental cars and don't have too many issues with them.

Havent fixed clutch but auto mechanic fixed dodgy earth wire and the alternator was F@#ked
