it really only looks like the mounts for the panhard would need reversing to suit, trailing arms and steering would still work

Not keen on the sierra diff though, Calmini could easilly adapt what they already have into a wide housing like Joeblow is doing

i think the sierra diff would be a bit too flimsy for a sas. i would go with a lux front...or just buy a sierra in the first place

It says u need wheel spacers so it would be a fair bit different in track width I think it's about 4 inch difference

so a 25mm Spacer with a 25mm Offset rim should sought it back to stock track width

Is it legal to swap out a diff for another that is ~100mm narrower? I would be surprised if it was. And wheel spacers are illegal in most states. A hilux diff is a much better option IMO, and close enough to the same track width for it not to be a concern.

how would you go about setting up a hilux diff with the same ratio as the rear vit?

not being a smartass, just interested how hard it would be to find matching ratios?

you could use 4.8, would be close enough but a bundy front (coil mounts line up!) and hilux rear with 5.29 gears would have to be a better option

though Vit is wider than normal hilux you could use a IFS hilux rear diff and ifs front hubs on a solid front diff to get close but you arent achieving a lot

regardless of what peoples opinons are on this sas conversion, i think its pretty cool that a major company is still fabbing parts for the old vitaras must still be fairly popular in the states!?

Yeah well that is a sticking point. Still, I'd prefer to do a lux SAS and then have to change the rear diff to lux aswell. Its not that much more work.

SAS is a pretty major undertaking.

Quite popular in the states, they are sold as the Suzuki Sidekick, Geo Tracker and a few other names over there. Check on pirate 4x4, some very tough builds.

The kit looks good, if you reveresed the panhard rod locations it might work here. Or just go Hydro steering

I like the idea of this kit but if you want to use the Vit for anything else other than a comp or paddock truck then there's no way an engineer will give you the nod.
