As my GV is 8 yrs old I decided to replace the cabin air filter. Instead of getting reamed by the dealer with a genuine filter set I bought a cheaper set from the US.
It is a FRAM CF8726A filter. It has activated charcoal and baking soda which is meant to absorb odours etc. It was $40 delivered.
Here is the comparison. The FRAM is on the top and the old genuine is at the bottom

As you can see the genuine has many more pleats, but the FRAM has the charcoal coating (the black stuff). The genuine has a plastic frame holding the paper whilst the FRAM uses cardboard to hold the filter paper and hence isn't as stiff.
The size was correct and was quite tight to fit the air filter cover back on so I guess it's sealed well.
I haven't tested it yet for performance but will update when I do.
