was thinking of getting a vitara id need to sell my drover to help pay for it
have any of you seen a vitara offroad do you think it would go all right and how much work to get some 31's under it??

and what is a good price to ask for the drover iv got a spear 5speed for it and t/case f/r diff's and some other stuff

just thinking outloud so tell me what you think

ive seen many vitaras go as well off road as sierras, they dont really flex much less than most non rufed sierras in the front and flex more in the rear

they are smoother underneath as well so dont get hung up as easy

the front diff is weak, you need to get a steel one from a GV if you intend to fit 31's, you migth get dramsa with CV's too, you can get a kit to fit hilux CV's in and be pretty unbreakable then

fitting 31's is a matter of a 2" bodylift and some front guard shaping, you can play with the front a bit and possibly get away with no bodylift but you can kiss driving it on the road goodbye

YEah get a Vitara....

You can get 30's on it with just a 50mm spring lift. But combine that with the 50mm body lift and yeah 31's no problem. Even my Stocka Vitara well almost stock minus the 30mm spring lift and OME's is very capable with only 215/75R15 Cooper ATR's. I took it up to Mt Mee the other week for a N.B.S. Recy and I didn't even get it into Low Range.

As Royce said they are a better drive vehicle especially on road and just as capable offroad as a Sierra only letdown is the CV's & Front Diff housing but this is only a drama if your gonna go hard. But plenty of bonuses over a Sierra is Power Steering, A/C, Power windows & mirrors (JLX)

Well better put my 2 cents worth in LWB vit's and not as capable as the SWB but with a few more mod's that I have at the moment ( Lockers) you will go as far and do it in style and getting to and from the tracks 100-200k drive become easier and you don't need a Chiropractor at the end of it.

The LWB Vits are pretty good offroad.. sure, the ramp over angle isn't as good as the SWB but when creek crossing, the LWB feels so much more sure footed in the currents then the Seirra does.. and I cant really explain why..

the usual 85 model? they are asking some crazy prices in the trading post for sierras, so $3000 - $5000 Trading Post price, $2500 - $3500 ebay price, or $1500 auszookers price. Sell the parts separately to get more. Possibly $150 each complete diff, $150 transfer case, $150 gearbox. ( no tight arse auszookers user is going to pay that kind of money, but that's what people ask in the real world, even more.
