Righto, we have the good tech section and for the most part its working with some useful threads in here, we have fab where people show off some good stuff, we have the articles section where lots of people have put in the time to write up stuff for everybody

But we need more, we need lots lots more, the more info I reckon we have on things the more time we can spend in chat picking on Atari and not answering wobble questions.

So I am going to take the lead on it and offer up article subjects, I will start with some basic but useful topics and hopefully we can expand onto more indepth items, who knows over time we might build up something resembling a decent repair manual.

As for formats, I think if it makes it easier for people, we can use any easily accessible format, a word doc, a pdf, posted in articles here (please host pics in our Gallery, not photobucket) start a thread in Suzuki talk and I will move it over.

Eventually with any luck we might get a wiki module running and can stick it all in there and link it up all sexy and so on.

Anyone that submits an article will get something, depending on the article, as a thankyou for doing your bit.
If a team work on an article, any article, all will get the thing relating to that article, so if somebody knows what to do but cant write it up they can team with somebody with the word skills and no idea of what a dipstick is, likewise if somebody takes pics while someone works and another writes, all will get it. If 6 people all claim to have helped on an article about changing a tyre and I don't believe you, well you'll figure out what happens.

I figure there will be some project work here so if it helps people teaming up, especially interstate or whatever I can make a forum section for you to share things and communicate, and keep it hidden so it doesn't overflow with dribble.

likewise please keep the talk out of this thread, if I don't think its belongs ill delete it, this includes yeah great idea I would help but my dog ate my keyboard type posts, if you aren't helping don't post, simple.
If you wish to contribute but cant do the lot yourself, post up what you can do and maybe your location and others can get together with you.

If you want to take ownership of a topic, PM me which one and which model, if you are going it alone or as a team and a brief outline of what you'll do, if somebody else offers the same and its better, they win or you can work together, bit harsh but no point 5 people doing the same thing

OK first lot of articles, Thankyou for these will be an Auszookers sticker, note I dont actually know when youll get it cause I haven't asked Steve if this is ok but we will sort it out.

Pre Flight check, one for each model
topics to cover
Checking fluids, oil, coolant, washer bottle, battery level.
Topping up the above where required.
Checking tyres, pressure and condition.
Checking lights, replacing bulbs
Anything else you might check when filling up or before a long drive kind of thing, without going as extreme as servicing items.
Talk of safety things to think of while doing this

Basic servicing, one for each model
topics to cover
changing oil (2stroke guys come up with an alternative)
changing oil filter
more in depth look under the bonnet, checking hoses and belts, mounts, air filter etc
Talk of safety things to consider, jack stands etc

Basic 'tune' one for each model
Check and replace spark plugs
Check and replace points (where applicable)
Check and replace air filter
Check and replace Fuel filter
Check and set ignition timing (where applicable)
Adjust mixtures and idle speed (where applicable)

Brake check and replace one for each model
Checking brake fluid
Jacking up and supporting with stands
Removing wheels
Checking front brakes
Checking rear brakes
Replacing rear brakes (including removing and refitting rotor)
Replacing rear brakes
Bleeding brakes
checking brake hoses

Driveline service one for each model
Checking Gearbox oil
Replacing Gearbox oil
Checking Transfer oil
Replacing transfer oil
Checking diff oils
Replacing diff oil
Checking unis
Checking driveshafts
Checking CV boots
Checking for leaks
safety of working under cars, oil etc

This isnt a total list of topics but a guide to what I am thinking of, I know I have missed a few bits in there, I will add them as a separate topic soon (nobody is going to do a major service write up for a sticker)

hey royce, it sounds like a great idea, are you into custom stuff yet or are you only interested in maintaining zooks? custom would be a budget spoa or a 1.6MPFI swap......

cool :D

^^^ I think you need to aim more at the intermediate level - engine/gearbox/diff swaps, wiring mods, seat swaps, building front bars, etc. Or maybe it could be broken into easy/medium/hard jobs.

A few other topics I can think of - a lesson on oil, rim offsets for various tyre sizes, how to do bodywork. We also need a database on general non standard parts - ie - model X roofracks will fit a Sierra, or these Vitara seat covers can be found at site Y and cost $Z...

From now on i'll make sure to take a bunch of pics when I replace/restore bits an pieces.

yeah in time, somebody that doesnt know how to do anything will get nothing from that, you either know enough to give it a go or you dont, you wont get the knowledge from reading a story on the internet.

The rest of it there is a really good forum for Suzuki 4wders to share info on, ill see if I can remember the name....

if you open the picture in another window - tab and right click on them and in firefox you will have copy image url or IE properties then copy the url you then paste that into where you want the pic with after it

so this
http://www.auszookers.com/modules/coppe ... f0117s.jpg

becomes this

don't forget to resize your image as well... theres even websites that do it for you: http://www.picresize.com/

stops people scrolling all over the show to see the image =)

Thanks - I guess I'll start with resizing them - again - I did it to reduce the file size, didn't think about the image size though, the other forum I put them on automatically resizes.

I started one to suit my model vit

http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... ic&t=19722

ill add more when I go to check my tyres and so on

If anyone wants to take similar pics of other models and rip off my text to adapt to suit go for it

likewise if anyone has a lot of pics to add in to the gallery, let me know as I can ftp them and batch add them, its a lot quicker than uploading them 1 at a time

If we can figure out the background stuff of it I would like to generate a bit of a suzuki Wiki, gives something laid out that goes from section to section for the people that like to read and not post to learn off and something for seasoned members to link noobs to without having to type lots
