i am wrecking a sierra ute at the moment just thinking if i can cut the body back of the cab off and welding it to the front of a cut down hard top my reasons for this is that the ute cab is full of rust and hard to find and expensive just wondering on ideas cause i really badly want a ute

Ute's love to rust in the lower back panel anyway, so you may be better off cutting down a tin top & making the cab that way, of try get your hand's on a maruti cab & cut up a soft top, but good luck with the maruti cab..

Take the try off & look at the sloped bit near the base of the cab, give it a few tap's to with the handle of a screw driver..

A sierra has to be very frucked to not want to save it, a ute more so...

true i was thinking of wrecking but i want the chassis and body and ill upgrade to a 1.3 and a tube tray and winch bar wt diffs mabye a exo or internal cage just for like a tuff weekender

what do you think about a rust repair or:
a coily bodied zook or
a leafy body replacement?

Cheapest option is to sell them all and just buy a clean ute.

If you are going to cut the back wall off a ute to join to a tintop leave the ute roof intact and cut at windscreen pillars... Smallest joining welds possible makes for a neater and stronger final result.

Why not chop the tintop and glue the bum or tailgate off that to the back. That way if you stuff it up you still have a ute cab to fall back on.

The roof is dinted like crazy has a minor hole was rust repaired but the didn't even grind the welds back
