I was just reading an article about the Australian Launch of the '09 Grand Vitara.
What is the story with the new 3.2 litre V6?
Is it a further development of the H series engine?
Is it an all new motor for Suzuki, or is it sourced from another manufacturer?

No manual option with the V6 I see. What a shame, I reckon dropping a 3.2L V6 with full-time 4WD and a 5 speed into the SQ-625 would be very interesting

Answered my own question with a bit more research....

It's a GM motor

I think I'll go out and buy a Toyota, the GV is a little too closely related to a Holden Commode for my liking now

i think its one of the new gm motors. did you know suzuki was one of the designers of the current commodore motor?

i must have. they have been talkin about this motor for years. don't worry, gm as such didn't design it. they got thier other companies who know how to work with alluminium and multivalves to do that.

Had to love the vn v6 commodore when they first came out many years ago. Apart from rear main oil seals, rocker cover gaskets, valley cover gaskets, head gaskets, welsh plugs, fuel pumps, crank angle sensors, ecus, iac motors, coil packs and modules, they were great. Kept me in a job.
I would probably steer clear from the Suzuki 3.2 until they've been around for a couple of years. By that time Suzuki will have hopefully ironed out any problems with it.

Man I have always thought putting commodore motors into a suzuki was stupid, now you tell me suzuki are going to do it for us

gm make the US XL7 and it has a 3.7L motor which has been in the hill climb suzuki for over a year, im sure its just a smaller version and it will be fine in the GV

Suzuki will also have the Holden engine as an option in the Kizashi when it gets here..

you guys are thinking of it the wrong way. the holden has a SUZUKI motor.

Suzuki have come along way but I really do wish they wouldn't get rid of the good old lever 4WD System and manual Hubs..

They should offer a Model thats built for Recreational offroaders rather then intercity transport..
All this push button 4WD systems, Just don't feel as reliable as the good old lever..

I mean I would like to see a Momo Styled Gear knob for the Transfer system rather then a button...

Good to see they still offer a low Range box..
