Hi,

i was after some measurements off a WT sierra front end. i do not have a WT sierra handy to get measurements off, and you would think this kinda info would be readily accessable on the net via google search or something. nope.

the measurements i would like are:

front spring front mount width (between left and right mounts, centre to centre)

front spring rear mount width (between left and right mounts, centre to centre)

WT front diff perch width spacing (between left and right perches, centre to centre)


the sierra leaf springs are 50mm wide, so i'm assuming the spring perches on the diff are 50mm wide also.

and would anyone be able to confirm that the WT front housing has a 60mm axle tube?

Hey mate, just had a look for ya.
All the leaf mounting points are 720mm, center to center
Front mount is a tube (with rubber bushes) 50mm long.
Rear mount is 2 plates about 65mm apart.
My front diff about 65mm thick on the passenger side and abit thicker on the drivers side.
What are you after the measurements for? If your putting WT Diffs into a NT i think the easiset way is just to relocate the mounts on the diff.

but lux gearing in the front and vitara gearing in the back.

i was wondering when the lux diff thing would come up.

i am unable to get a lux diff for a cheap price.
lux ratio difference is a problem.
steering from suzi to lux is $$$

i want the sierra housing because:

it is stronger than the vit CV's at 4" of lift
i have two farked spindles which i cannot find cheap replacements for
i have access to sj80 arms
i have vented 4dr vit brake calipers and rotors
my 3rd from my vit should fit into the WT housing
i have panhards of different sizes at hand
vit and sierra steering ball joints are same same

hopefully i can get away with a sas which is stronger and more reliable than the 4" lifted vit ifs for less than $500.

it will be in way of SJ radius arms, my 4 dr brakes, my vit front diff centre and a yota panhard or similar.

i will try to use the original coil mount on the chassis and make a upper shock mount to bolt into the vit strut tower.

if i can round up measurements and parts soon, i will make a start on it. i normally drive my vit as a daily, but its having some overheating issues, so i'm in the process of sorting out the cooling system. so i thought, while its off the road, i may as well do something about it.


if there are any helpful tips, hints, or any advice people are willing to share, i'm all ears.


i've been thinking about doing this for the last 6 years, and now i'm on my 3rd vit with an unknown number of broken CVs, i think its gonna be now or never.

i'm only missing a panhard off a SJ or jimny.

i have a mountain of coils i'll be trialling too. i think i might end up using a vitara rear coil or similar.

i am trying to keep it all suzuki. thats the plan.

also, i'm not looking to create a mega flex machine, i just need slightly more travel in the front compared to the ifs so the rear isnt working so hard. plus i know SJ arms aren't the strongest, so i may even need to limit travel in the front. the length of coil is also restricted and the front coil mount is a lot lower (under) on the chassis. so the coil can't be too long anyway.

Sounds like a cool build, do you need a panhard rod from a jimny? cus i've got the stocky ones here?

Use a panhard off something bigger. The jimny bushes are puney, and IMO contribute to the jimny wobble.

Look at Bundera, 80 series etc. Heaps beafier bushes.

i will need to get the housing 1st to see what lengths i can use.

Wouldn't a tough dog jimny panhard rod be better, very beffy and adjustable but they are rather exy.

i have a couple of patrol and 79LC front panhards already.

i'm swaying towards the 79LC panhard.

i bought my vit for $500. so spending lots is not very high on my list.

i even made my mate buy me the mini spool for my birthday.

i had to fork out for new tyres, and scabbed the wheels off a mate anyway. tyres were the single most expensive thing after buying the vit.

Thank goodness. A WT sierra front axle is nowhere near strong enough for a vitara, and it's far too narrow.

Hilux are too narrow as well.
