i want to triple my fuel range so i am going to fit a second tank into my sierra.
a quick measurement gave me a gap of 1000x400mm that i could use however
i will need to move my exhaust.
i wanted to rob the tank out of this upside down 2.8 hilux but some one beat me to it.
this tank is in a courier/bravo and i think it should fit
i also found a random aftermarket tank but i think it will hang down to low. if i have to i will do a cut and shut on it and use it.
the tank i am going to try first came from the back seat of a SWB GQ so i
dont know what it is out off. i do think that it is the hilux one but and i just
found the hiding spot for it. so thanks fella.
thanks to want33s, i have another sierra fuel filler thing and i would like to
put it on the same side as the standard filler however the tank is going to
have to go on the other side of the car so the filler hose might be an issue.
i love looking around the dump, found a hi-lift jack that looks like it just needs a new shear pin.

What benefit is carrying more fuel to you? is there a small window where you can get fuel for cheap so you want to stock up?

300km of track and then 350km of maintained dirt road and then 200km of tar
to the next servo. 40ltr gives me around 200ks in the bush.
most trips i do i have to carry 6 20ltr jerry cans.
and as for cheap fuel i have a choice of either $2.40 or $2.66 per ltr.

haha the island is only 50ks long but i want to start doing some trips through
Arnhem land and i am driving to Katherine in June. it is only $150 for a barge
to dump a car on the mainland and it is only 300ks to the nearest formed
road. actually that isn't quite right there is a road closer but it doesn't go where i want to go.
notice the lack of roads. the community's here get supplied by air or sea.

i am looking into buying fuel in 1000ltr cubes, but i cant get opal fuel at the
right price and the cubes cost $85 a week to rent. plus i dont want to
have to shoot sniffers who will try to steal real fuel. easier to just pay the price for fuel.

Hey Shep, i just checked the weather radar for Gove up your way, you got a Cyclone on your doorstep right now, Cyclone Paul, its only Category 1... so far...
I used to work on Koolan Island, north of Derby WA... been through a couple of Cyclones up there... they used to have Cyclone parties its hard working in so much heat and humidity, just about everyday... as you know, there is only 2 seasons up there, wet and dry... lol... the only thing that kept me sane up there, was that i loved fishing, and there is some extreme fishing up that way, if you can keep the crocs and sharks of your fish, many times i just pulled up half a fish, or just a fish head...

I don't think they're that worried about it... The cars can't run long enough to run out of fuel...

In my Sierra LWB I used a tank out of a Nissan 260C, I think it was.
It was 60L. ish.
A lot of 80's cars had a tank behind rear seats,
strapped to floor pan,
so easy bolt down into rear of a Sierra.
If thats any help.

i didnt want to put anything in the back of the car because i carry heaps of stuff and need the room.
i remover the MK tank today and brought it home. works out to be a 60ltr tank which is great, it still had a bit
of diesel in it and there was no water and no sediment/rust flakes.
it looks like it will fit great
i will tack it in after lunch and get some more photos.

Make sure mounting is flexible enough to allow for chassis twist,
or it may split the tank over time.
You probably already know that,
in which case tell me to bugger off
