Has any one ever popped a coil out of the rear of a sierra. Its got 2 inch lift 2 inch body lift 31s. The coils could be shagged, bumped stops never been adjusted but who wants to do that. I think its got the 40mm ebay kit. Can i put different 50mm extended springs in the rear or alternative springs altogether.

Any help appreciated

yeah it was pushed out going through a water crossing. flexed up and water pressure pushed it out. then my mates hilux drove over it. when you flex it up fully it doesn't seem that tight. I've heard about relocation cones and adjusting bump stops. trying to work out if my coils are shagged or my setup is wrong

You might have some sagged springs, or whatever. But if you're really worried just make up a cheap retainer.

Retain one end of the springs.

Using missmatched shocks, eg, shock too long, your coil will pop out of its place.

blue suzy and sierra dan if you've got coilys what height and type springs do you run in the back. I've read that the LH rear and RH rear coils contain different amounts of coils? Are all sierra coils tapered?

Tapered?

Either your coils are too short or your shocks are too long.

I don't have coils but i know how to fix a coil falling out..

Vitaras can do it too,
as can any coiled car that has too long shocks for its coil length.
Spring should still have tension on it, at full droop.

A quick fix could be coil spacers.
Or limitting straps so it dont droop so far.

I'd say your shocks are too long for your set up. So your axle is articulating as far as the arms will let it go which is further than your spring is long so it jumps out.

Retain the springs or get shorter shocks to limit the travel or make limiting straps.

As far as I'm aware if you have that amount of unrestricted travel on the coilys the diff mounts rip off. That's a worse issue.
