Hey guys pulling a 16b out of a 94 Vitara and putting it in a 89 (previous 16a) vehicle... Got all the engine bay disconnected or seperated but can anyone tell me where and how to remove the ecu and harness etc. I assume it is under the dash but does it require dash removal and how much of the cable harness etc.

Not even gone looking for it yet so not sure the brand is there a difference to the wiring, location and removal?

Yep, there's a difference short to long wheel base to...

To get the harness out in one bit you will need to remove the dash, If I was doing the job I'd be doing whole harness, as the ecu has it's finger in running thing's the carb had lil box's for...

Ok dash out it is it was going to be put into the shortie anyway just got to do it a little earlier. What was the difference in the ecu and why did they differ from SWB to LWB Doesnt make sense

swb and lwb started getting efi engines at different years and there are different efi types and each time they altered the designs for packaging reasons and so on

easiest way is to swap the whole dash and complete wiring loom over, then its all jsut unplugging and plugging back in, you arent trying to graft anything

Thanks for the reply... Yep your right i am striping a carby vit and giving it a transplant. I have a donor car with engine and all electricals so will move what i need to move. Is there anything in particular i need to watch for with the move. Previous reply reffering to difference between SWB and LWB had me worried.

P.S already got the Fuel tank covered

lwb will be different for things like the rear doors, the way the power windows (if fitted) are wired and little stuff like that

but you should be able to work around all that easy enough

Watch out for everything mark every plug and socket twice, once with where it goes and once with a number that will correspond with the same number on wherever it goes, dont ever assume youll remember anything, write it all down
