lighter. doesnt store energy so if it breaks it just drops

if a towball snapped off while using rope would it still fly back and kill ya?

As said above...lighter and snaps and drops and it doesnt fray so ya get cable in ya hand and if its snaps ya can braid it back together!

YA NEVER EVER RECOVER OFF A TOWBALL! 8O 8O

I was saving for a winch,
and plasma,
but the Vitaras engine ate all my money..
Hand puller will suffice for now for emergency only.

I don't know of any towballs made of brass? There was a chick who was killed a few months ago from a towball up north, hit her in the thoat. Don't do it!

In the 1950's most tow balls were made of brass.

Anyway, the article in the link below is a pretty comprehensive one which covers winching and snatching as well I think. It is from the USA but probably everything you need to know is in here. It has some references to some interesting US army publications as well.

How much does 25 metres of 8mm steel cable weigh? Just wondering how many kg's you save by switching out to plasma rope

^^^ Just asking as a Warn 6000lb winch is listed at 35kg, not sure if that includes the steel cable or a dry weight.

I'm waiting on an ARB winch bar for my Sierra - keen to keep all the extra weight up front under control.
