hey all ive got a 94 wide track sierra 1.6efi in it i just ordered a austrack campers roof top tent with full annex and awning. 8)

i have a 6 point roll cage currently and am thinking of extending the cage a little and making a sort of box section at the back, it has a removable flexiglass roof so the plan is to have a 5mm plate with sum sort of foam/rubber to sit under the fibreglass roof.

and also plate it to the floor it will all be removable anyways just bolt in bolt out then have a plate on top of the flexiglass roof drill 4 holes in in for the bolts and the plate on top will have a small vertical piece of box steel welded to it, then another peice of box steel running across the top of the roof so that it is then in fact a roof style rack enabling me to take the roof off and still have roof racks or have the roof with them on or off also ill still be able to run rear seats if i wish as it wont affect the entry or exit of the vehicle.

the tent should be quite sturdy held in by the cage as no way in hell a flexiglass roof would hold it lol. 8O

if any body has any different ideas that may help please ide like to hear comments never really seen a sierra with a tent on top only on trailers i will put up pics of the build as i go just awaitng on the tent to arrive hopefully the outcome is great.

to tell you the truth its a hell of a lot less bumpy and i cant even notice much of a difference maybe if i got it on a decent angle ide notice but cornering and driving around its actually better the tent only weighs 60kg and its all mounted off the roll cage which would make a massive difference.
