Hi
Have a 2002 Grand Vit 2.5 ltr v6 and was wondering if anyone can tell me if it has a knock sensor. have found that the 2 ltr and the 2.7 ltr xl-7 does but cant find anywhere if the 2.5 ltr does.
Issue is that the car pings badly under any load recently serviced and it still does it. there was no error code when checked. any thoughts on this if it doesnt have a sensor. is it that the timing is to retarded. thoughts please.
regards Yvonne

I had the same problem, does it only happen when the engine is hot ? Its apparently not uncommon for them to get a carbon hot spot. I ended up running Morleys Upper Cyl lube and cleaner and after 4 -5 tanks the problem was solved. This was also after running the car on premium for 5 years.

Mine used to ping too... But only on 91RON, Premium was fine and gave better economy anyway.

thanks for the comments guys. found out today after many stupid calls to suzuki (them dumb not me) that our gv has a knock sensor so 1st job will be to change the fuel filter and air filter then next will be to replace the knock sensor. already run 98 in it so thats not going to help.
cheers Yvonne

Hi Peter, Yep seem to have fixed the problem. I use to run every 3rd tank on 95 but now run premium 95 or 98 every tankand it has stopped pinging. Was told ours could be the knock sensor but it's not putting out any error codes, but changing fuel to a higher octane fuel has definately helped and we also get an extra 100 km per tank approx.
Hope this helps.
cheers Yvonne
