I'm looking to run the intake on my G13BA into the cab by routing from the carby hat to a tube welded into the firewall with a pod filter clamped behind the dash on the drivers side. Are there any pod style filters smaller than the usual $20 kind you find on every second pulsar and commodore for a better fit behind the dash?
Considering other options with air boxes that could run inline if anyone knows of any.
Staying with 1.3 for now, there are no inner guards at all and there will be some decent sized shock towers/hoops.

How much room? Are you deleting the glove box?
Toyota Hiace run a cylindrical metal filter housing that takes a nice large filter that is easy to get.. Cheap too.

Ah that one looks perfect Gus!
Behind the dash above the fuse box that little pod would be perfect, but having a proper air box with a paper filter would be nice. So basically an air box that'd fit just under the bonnet in the space the battery and standard air box would take up. I was thinking a modern small car panel filter box. I'll check out the hiace one cheers.

You'll hate the noise a pod will make in the interior. Way too loud.
Steve.

It doesn't bother me. This has a 3.8 with a short straight through exhaust and a pod at your knees. Mine will be much quieter and I can't imagine a 1.3 sucking as much air as a 3.8. My car will be driven to local tracks and wheeled, towed to distant tracks/social wheels and wheeled or entered in TT or similar.

I looked at doing it that way doin could reuse the hole for the day I put a 1.6 in there. How'd you overcome the carby hat pointing down on the rocker cover?

I like the Hiace box. Being steel I could turn the lower hose around back into the firewall.

Think I've seen something similar in an SR20 conversion in my reading the last couple of days. Went from that out the guard to a snorkel. Just an observation, no useful contribution. Carry on.

Hi Sierradan, mate if you look around the wreckers especially in small comercial vehicles you will find a few neat metal filter boxes/canisters that are smallish and will do the trick nicely.
If you do decide on a pod type there ones like that pic but they actually have the base tube about 10cm long so you could have it mounted solid to the insdie of the firewall with the hard tube extending through to the engine bay, it would then be a neater easier fit for the conecting rubber or flexible tube.

Yeah I was thinking of welding in a bit of pipe into the firewall so the pod actually clamps onto the fire wall in the inside and te hose clamps the firewall in the engine bay. If that's what you meant?
