Hi all just wanting to know if anyone has experienced their Vit being just plain useless as soon as it sniffs a hill, I now have a 94 LWB with 16b and previous car was Swb with a 16a and it felt like it would takle hills a lot better than the LWB, I thought when I got in the LWB with a 16b it would have noticeably a bit more grunt but it's not the case, does anyone have any suggestions on something I should be looking for that could be causing power loss, mainly under load, cheers.

have you checked the basics like timing & spark plugs etc?

As Atari said check timing, plugs, leads, air filter, exhaust not blocked/damaged, do a compression test and change the oil.

mine was gutless on hills till i got a timing light on it and realised it was a tooth out

Yeah checked most things, but not timing as don't have a light but that was high priority as soon as I get my hands on one, but a I am right in thinking that it should pull up hills (well at least on the freeway!) and also that it should have more grunt than a 16a arent I? is it running standard sized tyres?

No 235/75/15, but these are off my Swb so they both had the same size, wonder what Suzuki says what power a 16a and a 16b make in stock form, I was positive my new Vit would have more grunt or maybe the extra weight of the LWB cancels out the extra power a 16b should have

LWB is a bit more weight than shorty...

does it feel like it improves once you start revving it?

get a breaker bar and 17mm socket

put it in 5th gear and pull the handbrake on

get under it and put the socket on the bolt int he middle of the bottom pulley

pull on it, once the slack of the driveline is taken up, if that bolt does up even the smallest amount its likely the crank keyway is flogged out and your cam timing is out

Cheers for that will give it a go, if that's the case will key way just be able to replaced or will end of crank be damaged aswell? Cheers again.

It can go either way, ive successfully puttied up a damaged crank and am about to do it again tomorrow

Royce... I was just wondering I am having trouble with my baleno engine especially at low revs. Until now we thought it might be a air/ fuel mixture related issue but I was thinking if that would Work would it be worth a try??? It's the same g16b engine 1.6L just the obvious modified front wheel difference. Would it work??

Coilpack or dizzy? Could be same prob, But not..

cam timing is cam timing so it worth looking at, at least to tick it off the list
